Annual Award Recognizes Manufacturer's Commitment to Employee Development
11.09.2022
Belden recently received the Northumberland Manufacturers’ Association (NMA) Award honoring the company’s Cobourg, Canada, location for its commitment to Investing in Employee Development.
“Belden is a values-based organization, and we feel strongly about providing a workplace where employees can receive the support that empowers them to advance their careers here. It’s so much a part of who we are that we included a target in our 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals to fill 75% of Belden’s top 150 positions from within. It’s a spirit that is present throughout the organization at all levels, and we’re becoming known for this culture of advancement,” said Leah Tate, SVP, Human Resources.
The “Investing in Talent Development” award is given to manufacturers who have demonstrated participation in training programs facilitated by the NMA, providing flexible scheduling and financial support to allow for employees to attend development events, and advancing opportunities for employee’s career progression through training, mentoring and continuous education.
“The entire team here in Cobourg places a great deal of focus on the value of ‘We Invest in Talent,’ and that’s why it was such an honor to learn that we had been recognized by the NMA for this work. We have many programs in place to support employee development internally, plus the NMA provides excellent programming to further these efforts. Belden employees know they are valued for their skills and perspectives today, and for our collective belief in the possibilities that can be nurtured for tomorrow. This allows us to innovate together, grow together, and embrace all for the uniqueness they bring to their daily work,” said Paul Furlani, Plant Manager – Cobourg.
Furlani attended the NMA ceremony to accept the award in October 2022 and was joined by colleagues Judy Smith, Human Resources Manager, Belden ULC., Canada and Arnaud Raymond, Engineering Manager – Cobourg.
